What Is New: Texas Original has moved three of its best-known vaporization strains into a larger cartridge. Blue Dream, OG Kush and Blackberry Kush are now available as 1-gram vaporization oil cartridges made with Texas-grown cannabis, listed at $90 each. The company says it will no longer offer those three strains in 0.5-gram cartridges, but it will keep a rotating selection of other strains in the half-gram size.

The Three Strains Moving to 1 Gram
Blue Dream (Sativa) is the daytime option of the three. Texas Original describes it as a fresh, pine-forward strain with a terpene profile that combines myrcene, α-pinene and β-caryophyllene. In my Blue Dream Cartridge Review, I scored the half-gram version 8.5/10 and called it my best daytime pick for mood, focus and usable energy. The batch I tried tasted sweeter and more berry-like than the company's pine-forward description, which is a good reminder that flavor can shift from batch to batch.
OG Kush (Hybrid) is the balanced, earthy and peppery middle option, with myrcene, β-caryophyllene and linalool. My OG Kush Cartridge Review gave the half-gram 8.7/10. It earned its highest marks from me for muscle relaxation, spasticity and calm after the day is finished.
Blackberry Kush (Indica) is an earthy berry strain that combines myrcene, limonene and β-caryophyllene. It is still my highest-rated Texas Original cartridge: 9.1/10 in my Blackberry Kush Cartridge Review, with 9.5/10 for sleep support when pain follows me into bed.
Those scores come from the 0.5-gram cartridges I bought earlier this year. I have not used the 1-gram versions yet, so I am not assuming the larger cartridge performs exactly the same through a full gram. Sativa, hybrid and indica labels are also broad menu categories rather than promises; our Indica-Versus-Sativa Myth Check and Terpene Myth Check explain why dose and your own response matter more than the label.
Why the 1-Gram Size Is a Better Fit for Regular Patients
For patients who have already settled on one of these strains, the bigger cartridge is a practical upgrade. Here is what it changes.
- Twice the Oil, No Per-Gram PremiumAt $90, one 1-gram cartridge costs the same as two of the $45 half-gram cartridges Texas Original listed for these strains. You get the same amount of medicine without paying extra for the larger size.
- Fewer Refills and PickupsAt the same dose, a full gram lasts roughly twice as long as a half-gram. That can mean fewer orders and fewer trips for patients who live far from one of Texas's Licensed Dispensaries.
- Less Hardware and Packaging WasteOne cartridge body, mouthpiece and package replaces two.
- Keep the Strain That Already WorksPatients who found a routine with Blue Dream, OG Kush or Blackberry Kush can keep the same strain and terpene profile while buying a larger supply.
- Lower Cost Than the All-in-One If You Own a BatteryA $90 cartridge on a battery you already have is $10 less than the company's $100 1-gram all-in-one device.
Texas Original has listed its vaporization cartridges at approximately 3 to 5 mg THC per draw, and its Official Vaporization Guide describes the same measured approach across its vaporization line. A larger reservoir does not change how much you should take per session. Follow the dosage your physician entered, and check the 1-gram package for the per-draw figure that applies to your cartridge.
1-Gram Cartridge vs. 1-Gram All-in-One
Texas Original now sells two 1-gram vaporization formats. They solve slightly different problems, and they do not share strains.
| Format | Listed Price | Battery | Strains |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 g Cartridge | $90 | Separate; Texas Original batteries listed at $10 (M4B Pro) and $20 (Palm Pro) | Blue Dream, OG Kush, Blackberry Kush |
| 1 g All-in-One | $100 | Built in and rechargeable | Hill Country Sunset, Marfa Lights, Padre Pineapple |
The cartridge makes the most sense for patients who already own a battery or want one of these three specific strains. The all-in-one makes more sense for someone who does not want to buy or charge separate hardware. If you already own a Texas Original battery, ask your pickup location to confirm it fits the 1-gram cartridge before you order. Our 1-Gram All-in-One Launch Report covers the disposable-style devices, and our Goodblend Float vs. Texas Original Comparison looks at how Texas Original's vapes stack up against another licensed operator. Current prices are on the Texas Original Vaporization Listing, and they can differ by location.
What Happens to the Half-Gram Cartridges
Texas Original says it will stop offering Blue Dream, OG Kush and Blackberry Kush in 0.5-gram cartridges. Half-gram cartridges are not going away entirely: the company will keep a rotating selection of other strains in that size. It has not said which strains will be in the rotation. My reviews of the half-gram Zelato Cartridge and Rainbow Belts Cartridge cover two strains the company listed in that size earlier this year, and our Texas Original Cartridge Comparison puts Blue Dream and OG Kush side by side.
A half-gram can still be the better buy in some cases. Patients who are new to inhaled THC, want to try a strain before committing, or would rather spend $45 instead of $90 up front may prefer the smaller size from the rotating selection.
Access Still Requires a Texas Prescription
These are Texas Compassionate Use Program products, not general retail vapes. Texas does not issue a physical medical marijuana card. A physician registered in the state's Compassionate Use Registry (CURT) enters your prescription, and the dispensary checks that registry when you order. State law allows a physician to prescribe pulmonary inhalation when the physician determines it is medically necessary, and the prescription must specify the THC amount per dosage unit, as the Texas Occupations Code explains.
A 1-gram cartridge should hold about twice the total THC of the half-gram versions, which Texas Original listed at 423 to 456 mg. If your prescription was written around half-gram cartridges or another route such as gummies or tinctures, ask your physician whether it covers the larger cartridge. Our guide on How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas walks through the steps, our Qualifying Conditions Guide covers eligibility, and the Texas DPS Patient FAQ answers common registry questions.

Get Authorized, Then Check the Live Menu
Texas Original serves registered patients only. Ask the prescriber whether pulmonary inhalation is authorized for you before ordering a cartridge.
What We Still Need to Learn
The confirmed news is simple: three familiar strains, 1 gram each, $90 listed, and no more half-gram versions of those three. What the announcement does not tell us is how the cartridge draws through the end of a full gram, whether flavor holds up as the oil runs low, or which strains will fill the half-gram rotation. I plan to answer those questions with hands-on use, and I will update my strain reviews once I have tried the 1-gram versions.

How Much Does a 1-Gram Texas Original Cartridge Cost?

Can I Still Buy These Strains in Half-Gram Cartridges?
No. Texas Original says it will no longer offer Blue Dream, OG Kush or Blackberry Kush in 0.5-gram cartridges. It will continue to offer a rotating selection of other strains in the half-gram size.
How Does the Cartridge Compare With the 1-Gram All-in-One?
The 1-gram cartridge is $90 and screws onto a separate battery. The 1-gram all-in-one is $100 with a rechargeable battery built in, and it comes in different strains: Hill Country Sunset, Marfa Lights and Padre Pineapple.
Has CannaWize Reviewed the 1-Gram Cartridges?
Not yet. I have reviewed the half-gram versions of Blue Dream, OG Kush and Blackberry Kush, but I had not used the 1-gram cartridges at publication.
Do I Need a Medical Marijuana Card to Buy These Cartridges?
Yes. Texas Original sells only to patients registered in the Texas Compassionate Use Program. Texas does not issue a physical card; a registered physician enters the prescription in the state registry, and vaporization must be authorized.
