Texas Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
Texas has a limited number of licensed dispensaries under the Compassionate Use Program. Here is how they work, who can shop, and how to get access.

How Dispensaries Work in Texas
Texas licenses a small number of medical cannabis providers under the Compassionate Use Program. These dispensaries serve only registered patients with an active prescription in the state registry.
Because there are few of them, statewide delivery and pickup are central to how they operate, reaching patients who live far from a physical location.
What They Sell
Products are low-THC by law, formulated for medical use rather than recreational potency. Expect tinctures, gummies, lozenges, and similar measured-dose formats.
This is different from hemp-derived retailers, which sell higher-potency THCA flower without a card. The two serve different needs.
Who Can Shop
Only patients registered in the CURT system with an active prescription can purchase. You cannot walk in and buy without being in the registry.
If you are not yet registered, you will need an evaluation first. Our how-to guide explains the process end to end.
Delivery and Pickup
Given the limited number of locations, most providers offer delivery across much of the state, along with designated pickup points. This makes access realistic even outside major cities.

Getting Registered
Registration starts with a telemedicine evaluation by a physician enrolled in the program. If approved, your prescription goes into CURT and you can begin ordering.

Dispensary Versus Hemp Options
If you want compliant, lower-THC medical products with legal protections, licensed dispensaries are the route. If you want higher potency without a card, hemp-derived products ship statewide.
Many Texans use both, relying on the medical program for some needs and hemp products for others.
