Research Governance

Survey and Participation Standards

Rules CannaWize will follow before collecting original patient, professional, consumer, or operator data.

Important boundary: Clinical research, interventions, identifiable health data, vulnerable populations, or studies intended to produce generalizable human-subjects research may require institutional ethics review and qualified legal or research oversight before recruitment begins.

Before collection

Publish or preserve the research question, target population, recruitment method, questionnaire, inclusion rules, planned comparisons, privacy approach, compensation, sponsor, conflicts, and stopping criteria.

Consent and privacy

Explain what is collected, why, how it will be used, retention, sharing, risks, voluntary participation, withdrawal limits, and contact information. Collect the minimum identifying information necessary.

Sampling and representation

State whether recruitment is open, convenience-based, panel-based, probability-based, or partner-distributed. Do not describe self-selected respondents as representative of all patients, clinicians, consumers, or businesses.

Analysis and publication

Report the number invited when known, starts, completions, exclusions, missing responses, collection dates, question wording, weighting, uncertainty, and subgroup rules. Publish null and unfavorable findings when material.

Access and reuse

Where privacy and agreements allow, publish anonymized aggregate tables, the questionnaire, a data dictionary, and analysis notes. Never publish raw identifiable health, licensing, employment, or financial information.

Priority survey concepts

  • Medical access cost, travel, and availability burdens
  • Patient understanding of product labels and cannabinoid doses
  • Consumer understanding of certificates of analysis
  • Small-business compliance costs and licensing barriers
  • Clinician experiences discussing cannabis with patients
